Field Report - September 1, 2007
Operation Hollywood
Saturday September 1, 2007
WC1 in attendance: Bishop, Caber

The first of September was a highly anticipated day in the life of the S.M.V.M.  A "Hollywood"
film crew was coming out to do some taping for an upcoming TV show (I can say no more about
it until after the show has aired).  Not only was this day highly anticipated, but it was hotly
debated (at least in this household).  The question of how much publicity is good for our group is
not easily answered.  Some folks like to stay incognito, others just love the cameras.  I think any
publicity that isn't outright negative can be viewed as positive in light of the militia's crippled
public image.

Anyway, the day was a beautiful one - Michigan doesn't get much better.

If you didn't make it out, here's what you missed:

- A film crew
- Level 1 qualification training
- Basic "box" formation and maneuver training for assaulting an objective at squad level
- A short practice patrol
- Casualty evacuation practice
- Squad online fire and advance rifle drill
- Quick target acquisition and magazine change practice
- Handgun bowling pin shoot

If you don't think you're ready right now to handle an emergency, what are you doing about it?
One thing you CAN do is come out and get some training.  Level 1 is within everyone's grasp.

I hope to see you in the field.

Bishop - Out

"The Dream Team"

Bishop,  (of Wayne County One) and
Jester, (of the Macomb County Militia)
mug for the camera on
September 1, 2007 at Camp Stasa.
Note the new Multicam pattern uniforms.

Both are graduates of the
Pioneer class
A-104.

Note also that the M1A / M4 rifle
combination is the "dream team" of which
I speak.  Although some may consider
ammunition incompatibility a liability, in
this particular match up, I do not.  These
two rifles compliment each other in ways
few others can.
Above: Bishop (back to camera) and Caber (1st man in line) - both from
WC1 - prepare for patrol.
